SHE Kelp (45 Ice)

The female torso form is slip-cast and detailed with hand-built built texture using midfire stoneware clay. The marine inspired details are added intuitively as I sculpt. The mid-fire glazes and oxides are painted on the bisque fired torso. At this stage, all the colors are layered together and clear glaze is painted on the areas that will later be detailed with gold and opal. After this midfire kiln firing the gold and opal luster glazes are painted on and lowfired in the kiln.
