Divine SHE

I sculpted Divine SHE using both casting and hand building methods. To fit in the kiln, I split the slip-cast 24" torso. The bottom section was built first adding coils to create the attached base. After adding the top section onto the constructed base, I use slip and lace to create the texture. The kelp, barnacles and coral shapes are hand built. The completed sculpture is bisque fired in the kiln. To create the layered gloss, matte and luster hues, I used a couple dozen glazes and oxides layers. The first layer of glazes is fired at cone 5. The gold and opal lusters are added over the glossy surfaces and fired at a very low temperature.
