My Octopus Friend

My inspiration for this piece was the Netflix series "My Octopus Teacher" and the book by Shelby Van Pelt, "Remarkably Bright Creatures." Although they are usually portrayed as denizens of the deep, they are not frightening predators. Octopuses are very curious, intelligent and have the ability to change their appearance and squeeze through and hide in very small spaces. They can even loose an arm and regenerate a new one! They are curious creatures who demonstrate amazing creativity to overcome obstacles and resilience in the face of harsh realities. I hope this painting reflects that creativity, curiosity, resilience and serves as an inspiration....
